Donor remembers her life; endless scans, hospital rooms, needles. All for naught, as the waiting list for that kidney was too long. Donor knows the pain of not having, well, a donor. She also knows the smell of death. That's why Donors taken it upon herself to bring a donor card to every patient she knows is dying. Perhaps at least after her lifetime, she can make the world a little bit more fair.

All new hospital staff are briefed of the "friendly little ghost" hanging around terminally ill patients. They are told not to disturb the spirit if it shows itself, as it means no harm and can be easily frightened off. Often, long-term nurses will find the tools they need placed suspiciously close at hand, in return for a few offerings of candy at room 303. Said candy will then mysteriously disappear, only to reappear in the hands of the homeless outside the hospital grounds.
